Located just six kilometres from the famous Plitvice Lakes, this family owned and run hotel continues to attract guests from all over the world due to an irresistible blend of warmth and service.

With just 20 rooms, we must point out that this hotel sells out fast. Therefore, early booking is essential.

The hotel is set in beautiful countryside criss-crossed by crystal clear rivers and surrounded by pastures and forests. There’s a feeling of calm here with plenty of space at the outdoor pool area which has a wide surrounding terrace where sunbed and pool towels are free.

Few people spend a lot of time at the pool, it’s more of a spot for an hour or two relaxing before or after exploring the local area. The fabulous Plitvice Lakes are the main attraction and we would advise allowing two to three days to do this at a leisurely place. A one- day visit is possible but you may come away thinking “wow” and not much more.

In the area, there are also hiking trails on marked paths, excursions to water mills and caves together with horse riding nearby. Equestrianism is not widespread in Croatia but this is an area where both riverside and forest rides are available. All can be arranged at reception. Swimming is allowed in the nearby Korana River.

A really good sign is that locals regularly drop in to the hotel’s café-patisserie to enjoy homemade breads and cakes. The a la carte restaurant, located in a separate building just across from reception is another popular haunt with locals and the spit roasted meats and peka specialities (metal bell over meat cooking slowly on embers) are favourites. Between June and September, it is essential to book at this spot.

Local river trout specialities also feature on the menu. More vegetarian options are being introduced but, to be honest, vegans may struggle here a little.

Guests use the main restaurant for breakfast and half board which may be buffet style or set menu, waiter served, depending on hotel occupancy.

The hotel’s Plum Café is an a la carte café-bistro-bar with a lovely semi-open terrace for drinks and light meals.
